Our Philosophy
At Psychiatric Services of the Rockies, we move beyond "just another prescription." We believe real relief is found at the intersection of clinical expertise, compassionate listening, and treatments that actually reach the target. You've tried the medications. You've managed the side effects. You're still waiting to feel like yourself again — and that's exactly where we start.
Why It's Not Your Fault
It's not willpower.
It's brain chemistry.
"Treatment-resistant" makes it sound like you failed. The truth is the opposite: the medication wasn't reaching the right target.
Depression and OCD live in the way certain regions of your brain regulate mood, motivation, and emotional response.
Magnetic pulses gently stimulate the exact areas of your brain that depression has quieted down.
How It Works
A depression treatment that works
with your brain, not against your body.
Unlike oral antidepressants, TMS doesn't circulate through your bloodstream. No weight gain. No sexual side effects. No fatigue. No emotional blunting. You stay clear-headed throughout.
Sit & Settle In
You sit in a comfortable chair, awake and alert — no sedation of any kind.
Gentle Magnetic Pulses
A coil rests gently on your head. You'll hear clicking and feel light tapping.
20–40 Minutes
Drive yourself home or back to work right after. No downtime at all.
Rapid Improvement
Many patients notice change within the first few weeks — faster than most medication adjustments.

TMS Isn't Right for Everyone — Here's When We'd Pause
These are safety considerations, not personal failings. Most people who ask about TMS don't fall into these categories.
Why This Practice
Integrated care. Local expertise.
A team that treats the whole person.
You're treated by an experienced psychiatrist, not a TMS technician.
Dr. Josiah Ziegler, DO, personally oversees every TMS treatment plan, supported by a dedicated PMHNP team.
TMS fits into your existing care — or stands on its own.
TMS can be combined with therapy, medication management, or Spravato when clinically appropriate.
Rapid relief for treatment-resistant depression and OCD.
Often within the first few weeks — faster than most medication adjustments.
Adults and adolescents are both welcome here.
TMS may be appropriate for younger patients when clinically indicated. Families are part of the healing process.
Two Fort Collins locations. One established practice.
TMS is the latest addition to a practice your community already trusts — not a pop-up clinic.
Meet Your Physician
A Fort Collins psychiatrist who believes in thinking outside the box.
Dr. Josiah Ziegler, DO, is an experienced psychiatrist who has built his practice around one core belief: patients who haven't found relief from traditional approaches deserve more than another prescription adjustment.
His special focus is bringing relief to patients who struggle with ongoing symptoms even after trying conventional treatments. When you come to Psychiatric Services of the Rockies, he'll listen to your story, review your history, and build a plan that makes sense for your life.

What Our Clients Say
"Dr Ziegler and his office are fantastic. They have been working with me on my treatments for 3 mo. Working with my employer for time off. The whole office staff are wonderful and always helpful. I want to give a special shout out to Olivia who administered my TMS treatment and while I did have to stop it because of my preexisting chronic migraines and at the request of my neurologist, Olivia was always checking on me and making sure I was ok. She is always happy and you can tell she cares."
"I’m beyond happy to say that my treatments are working!! I can’t make enough positive comments to express how much gratitude I have for Dr. Ziegler and his entire staff.!!! This clinic is exceptional in every way. If you’ve been suffering and don’t know where to turn, I highly recommend PSOTR. The hope I’ve finally found for my treatment resistant depression is hard to explain. I am 64 and never giving up!!"
"Dr. Ziegler and all the staff are kind and compassionate, and the patient's comfort is a clear priority. I was nervous about trying ketamine therapy, but the clinic has a safe and calming atmosphere. I was asked at each step of process if I had any questions, and I never felt rushed or dismissed. I'm confident I made the right choice and I feel hopeful for the first time in years."
"Dr. Ziegler was just what I needed. He listened intently to my situation and provided support and treatment that worked wonders in my state of panic. It has been almost 2 months since my visit and I continue to feel so much better following his treatment plan. I highly recommend Dr. Ziegler for whatever mental health situation you may find yourself in."

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Questions patients and families ask before starting TMS.
Still Have Questions? Most patients say no. You'll feel a tapping sensation on your scalp during treatment, and some people experience mild scalp tenderness during the first week that fades quickly. Unlike ECT, TMS requires no anesthesia.
Completely different treatments. ECT uses electrical currents to induce a seizure and requires anesthesia. TMS uses magnetic pulses — no electricity, no seizure, no anesthesia, no memory loss.
Medication circulates through your bloodstream and can cause systemic side effects. TMS targets only the brain regions involved in mood regulation — no drugs in your system.
Both are effective for treatment-resistant depression but work differently. Spravato is a nasal spray requiring in-office monitoring. TMS uses magnetic pulses with no medication at all.
Many patients notice improvement within the first few weeks of treatment — faster than most medication adjustments.
Many major insurance plans cover TMS for treatment-resistant depression when certain criteria are met. Our team handles all prior authorizations.
No treatment works for everyone, but TMS has strong evidence. If TMS isn't the right fit, Dr. Ziegler also offers Spravato and comprehensive medication management.
